Paula Kiger to join Digimentors as Vice President of Special Projects

New York, NY (Feb. 3, 2022)  -- Paula Kiger (@biggreenpen) a veteran writer, editor and communicator, will be joining Digimentors – a full-service digital agency specializing in TV-quality virtual and hybrid events, interview shows and social and digital media consulting – as Vice President of Special Projects.

In her new position, Paula will manage the Digimentors social media presence, serve on the team producing Social Media Weekend and conduct client/prospect research. She will help refine internal processes while contributing to organizational strategy and education efforts. She will continue to help produce Sree's Sunday #NYTReadalong, which she has been doing on a volunteer basis since late 2018.

“We are excited to have Paula join us at a time of major growth for the company,” said Sree Sreenivasan (@sree), CEO and co-founder of Digimentors. “She is the kind of “tradigital” journalist – well-versed in all the traditions, skills and values of journalism, with a strong overlay of social and digital skills – that we know can help our clients have greater impact in the world,” added Sreenivasan, a journalism professor who has served as Chief Digital Officer of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Columbia University and the City of New York.

“I thrive on connecting the dots between people, organizations and causes," said Kiger. “It is important to give people facts; it’s equally important to help audiences discover why they should be excited about those facts and to be inspired to take action. I take the responsibility of following through on connections seriously. There’s no place better than Digimentors to ignite excitement about the intersection of facts and action.”

For the past three years, Kiger has served as the nonprofit sector editor for SmartBrief, a leading B2B publisher. She has edited eight newsletters with a collective subscriber base of more than 200,000. She also has periodically written and edited the “While You Were Working” newsletter that is distributed to 83,000 readers and has occasionally edited the flagship leadership newsletter. SmartBrief is owned by Future plc, a 3,000+ employee media organization that is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.

Kiger has co-managed the SmartBrief Leadership Twitter account for three years. She has written articles on leadership, local government, infrastructure, education and social work, also for SmartBrief.

In addition to the #NYTReadalong, Kiger has previously been on ad-hoc Digimentors teams providing social media consulting to the Prison Journalism Project. She has been on social media amplification teams for Social Media Weekend #smwknd, Teach Rock, Hip Hop for Public Health, Bread for the City and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Kiger has a special interest in equitable language and served on the Style Guide committee for Future plc.

Kiger has published weekly for 13 years to her personal blog. She has written sponsored posts for the Florida Prepaid Tuition Program and the Let’s Stop HIV Together campaign, among others.   She has also written for Spin Sucks, the Tallahassee Democrat, Broadway World, RunChat, Fitfluential and other outlets.

Prior to her time at SmartBrief, Kiger worked for two decades for the Florida Healthy Kids Corporation, Florida’s State Child Health Insurance Program, in a variety of capacities including contact center management, customer service, training and provider relations.

Kiger is a Certified Public Manager and is an active community advocate.  She has been a long-term volunteer advocate for multiple causes, including the United Nations Foundation’s Shot at Life program, RESULTS, Unbound, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Preeclampsia Foundation.

She graduated from the 2021 Tallahassee Neighborhood Leadership Academy. She is a member of Engaging Local Government Leaders. She graduated from the ELGL Livable Communities program, has taken over the ELGL Instagram to promote Tallahassee, Fla., and Leon County and is an annual volunteer for #CityHallSelfie Day.
