Download the .pdfs of two special sections from this week’s Sunday New York Times for free from our website: Puzzle Mania (including the Super Mega Crossword) and The Holiday Gift Guide. We will also discuss the latest on Ukraine; The AI Boom (or is it a Bubble?); and the latest on President Trump and the 3Ms: Mamdani, MBS and MTG.

What stories are you following? (Earlier in the week, Trump’s threats against Democratic lawmakers and a major survey on immigration seemed like the major stories. We’ll try to discuss them as well.) I will be in the big chair and produce the show on Sunday, since Sree is still out of town. We will be taking next week off since it’s Thanksgiving Weekend.

This Sunday’s show is Episode 379. We are celebrating our 10th year producing the #NYTReadalong.

Thank you to everyone who has watched the show over the years and shared it on social media.

We will be live at 8:30 a.m. ET, 1:30 p.m. GMT and 7:00 p.m. IST. If you miss the show, you can always watch the replay, right on this page.  Bonus: Check below for links to our December 2024 review of Puzzle Mania with the recently retired NYT Games Columnist Deb Amlen and our January 2023 review of Puzzle Mania with Puzzlemaker Greg Pliska.

Puzzle Mania

The Editor's Note: “Welcome to the 11th edition of Puzzle Mania, your annual holiday puzzle extravaganza. This year’s edition celebrates the best of New York Times Games, old and new. You’ll find classic favorites like the Spiral, Split Decisions and Acrostic alongside debut creations like Red Herring Connections (a pictorial spin on the popular digital game), Voice Commands (a step-by-step instructions puzzle from Sam Ezersky) and Odd Couples (a test of your ability to think “alternatively”).

And as always, turn to page 6 to solve a dizzyingly large crossword, this one by

Christina Iverson, a Games editor. See if you can crack the contest embedded within it. Once you’re finished solving everything here, check out “Puzzle Mania!” the book, now in stores nationwide. It’s a collection of our favorite puzzles from this section throughout the years, along with brand-new Wordle, Connections and Spelling Bee challenges, brainteasers, trivia, original crosswords and much more. Created for solvers of every level, it should have more than enough to tide you over until next year’s Puzzle Mania. — joel fagliano”
