Our #NYTReadalong guest this week is New York Times Obituary editor, Amy Padnani. She is the author of "Overlooked: A Celebration of Remarkable, Underappreciated People Who Broke the Rules and Changed the World.”

The book is an unforgettable collection of diverse, remarkable lives inspired by the groundbreaking New York Times series of the same name, which publishes the obituaries of extraordinary people whose deaths went unreported in the newspaper. The book is filled with nearly 200 full-color photos and new, never-before-published content.

After joining NYT's obituaries desk, Amy sought ways to balance the section's coverage to include more women, people of color and others. Overlooked, which launched in 2018, will also be adapted to a children's picture book and a young adult book. It was the inspiration for a musical production by The Waa-Mu Show at Northwestern University.
