Midterm Election Preview
We'll draw on the latest reporting from The New York Times and developments across the country as we discuss Tuesday's elections.
What are your local news outlets reporting? What campaign ads are you seeing on television, online and in your social media feeds? What issues are being emphasized, and how does that compare with the national coverage?
Make a Plan
If you have not yet voted, take a few moments to prepare for Election Day. Confirm your polling location and hours before Election Day, plan when you will vote and allow enough time for possible lines or delays.
Vote
On Tuesday, go vote. If it's feasible, bring a friend or family member. Check your state's voter ID requirements before heading to the polls.
Know Where to Find Help
Make sure you know where to turn if you have questions or encounter difficulties. Vote.org provides nonpartisan voting information and tools, including registration checks, polling-place lookup and state-specific guidance.
The nonpartisan Election Protection coalition provides assistance through its national hotline, 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683), and website, 866ourvote.org.
More From The New York Times
In addition to the election preview, we're sharing gift links to obituaries of Dolores Huerta and Patrick Stewart, and three pieces from The New York Times' ongoing 175th anniversary coverage.
