#NYTReadalong | Andrea Sachs (Editor, The Insider - A Digital Magazine)

Updated: Mar 19, 2023

This week, on Sree’s Sunday #NYTReadalong, join us as we look back at three years living with a pandemic, take stock of where we are and take a look ahead at what’s to come

Our guest is Andrea Sachs, the founder and editor of The Insider - the world’s oldest pandemic magazine. She started the online magazine in March of 2020, just after everything shut down. Neil Parekh will be the guest host. Click here for a selection of articles from The Insider and context provided by Andrea. (.pdf 2 mb) Click here for the direct links.

Andrea was a Time magazine reporter for almost 30 years. A native of Detroit, she earned her law degree but quickly turned her attention to journalism, getting her master’s in journalism from Columbia University in 1983.

In addition to her current work, we’ll also talk about her long career at Time Magazine and the event that inspired her to go into journalism…standing nearby as reporters interviewed people just after Reagan was shot. Andrea has an affection for tabloid journalism that might surprise some people. She wrote her master’s thesis at Columbia Journalism School on “The Gossip Industry.” She even wrote an admiring cover story about the National Enquirer for the Columbia Journalism Review years later.
