Our guest for Sree’s Sunday #NYTReadalong is Indira Somani, an independent documentary filmmaker. She is currently finishing a documentary about her mother’s 20-year struggle with depression and Indira’s role as her primary caregiver. Her mother’s depression was instigated by the death of Indira’s father twenty years ago.

Neil Parekh will be the guest host.

We will be live at 8:30am ET / 12:30pm GMT / 6pm IST on Sunday morning on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram and our Digimentors website. If you miss the live show, you can always watch it later, on demand.

Indira had a long career as a television newscast producer and broadcast journalism professor before moving to LA to earn an MFA in Directing/Production at UCLA.

She taught broadcast journalism for 18 years, most recently with Howard University’s Department of Media, Journalism and Film. Prior to teaching journalism, she was a television newscast producer for 10 years, mainly in local news including major markets like Washington, D.C., and New York/New Jersey.
